The Charleston Museum:
Boasting as America's first museum, the Charleston Museum showcases
a variety of cultural and natural history artifacts telling
the history of the South Carolina “lowcountry”.
Visitors of all ages (yes this attraction is great for the whole
family) are be transported back through time, viewing artifacts
from ancient fossils as well as an enormous whale skeleton.
Popular attractions include: the Heyward-Washington House (circa
1772), and the Joseph Manigault House (circa 1803), "Charleston's
Huguenot House,” and "Charleston's Revolutionary
War House".
Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum:
This fabulous naval museum is home to the World War II aircraft
carrier, Yorktown, as well as other military ships. Here you
will also find the Medal of Honor Museum, as well as vintage
military aircraft to go with the sea vessels on display. This
museum lets you step back to another time in the nation’s
military history.
South Carolina Aquarium:
Here you can experience playful marine animals including everything
from scary sharks to friendly river otters. This is a great
place for the family as there are lots of interactive programs
especially designed for kids. Your family will get an education
the fun way with an exhibit that features exotic creatures from
around the globe.
Charleston Waterfront Park:
This attraction features a large linear park and pier along
the beautiful and famous Charleston Harbor. Here you will find
fountains, sculpted lawns, quaint garden "rooms",
running path, picnic tables with swings for children. Here you
can also find the City Gallery- a modern visual arts center
that exhibits the work of Charleston and South Carolina artists.
The Charleston Waterfront Park is a great place for the entire
